DEFIANCE, OH - Dennis Jan Scott, aka “Scotty”, age 77, of Defiance, died on April 14, 2026. Dennis was born on March 23, 1949, in Defiance, OH, to the late Lee Scott and Vesta Munger Scott. Scotty was a 1967 graduate of Defiance High School and on December 19, 1970, also in Defiance, OH, he married his beloved sweetheart, Carolyn. The two then began raising a family together.

Scotty worked for many years in corporate sales before fulfilling his dream of owning a restaurant. In his free time, Scotty enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, doing anything to take care of or make them happy, such as dancing, fishing, cooking, playing cards, and teaching handyman skills. He belonged to First Church of God, serving as an elder and loved his job giving back to the community, as well as driving seniors to their appointments. Scotty's friends and family will remember him most for his charisma, service to the community, and devotion to his beloved, Carolyn.

Scotty is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn; children, Emilie Wright, Karlee Konopka, and Natalie Scott; grandchildren, Caleb Wright, Joshua Wright, Abigail Wright, Andrew Wright, Rachel Wright, Scott Konopka, and Leo Konopka.

Visitation will be on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 2:30–4:30 p.m. at First Church of God, 561 Carter Road, Defiance, OH 43512. A funeral service will follow at the church at 4:30 p.m., officiated by Pastors Tyson Nofzinger and Larry Kennedy, with a memorial speech delivered by Natalie Scott, on behalf of the family. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Defiance, OH.

Flowers may be delivered to the church on Saturday between 12:30-2:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the First Church of God or to the Defiance Senior Center, in Scotty’s honor.
