1938 - 2026
BRYAN, OHIO - Rudy Lee Mast, 87, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at his home in Bryan. He was born on August 2, 1938, to the late Gerald and Susan (Kern) Mast in Defiance County. On June 6, 1972, he married his sweetheart, Carol Ann Stover of Mason County, West Virginia, and the two began raising a family together. Rudy worked at Johns Manville for 18 years and retired in 1984. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and playing his guitar, banjo, steel guitar, harmonica, and piano. He loved singing, spending time with family, and sharing the love of Jesus with everyone around him. He was a member of Bridging the Gap Ministry Church in Stryker. He will be greatly missed by his loving spouse of 53 years, Carol; his son, Charles (Sarah) Mast of Archbold; his daughters, Susan (Ryan) Carter of Bryan and Reba (Nicholas) Jones of Edgerton; his grandchildren, Jaden (Boyd) Hootman, Adrianna (Stephen) Lamphier, Garett Carter, McKenna (Rex) Carter, Andrew Mast, Elisha Konoff, Ethan (Addison) Carter, and Kaleb Blasingim; his great-grandchildren, Ryan Lamphier, Eliana Hootman, and Nathaniel Carter; his sister, Rita (Mast) Leininger of Defiance, and two brothers, Gary of Cecil and David of Defiance.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Rudy Lee Mast Jr.; his son-in-law, Daniel Konoff; his three sisters, Betty Delarber, Dixie Corwin, and Rose Cantrell, and his six brothers, Donald, Richard, Francis “Curly”, Ray “Dean”, Dennis “Skip”, and Marvin Mast.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 28th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, May 29th, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Faith Tabernacle Church, 270 Harding Street, Defiance, OH 43512. A funeral service will follow at the church on Friday at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Ryan Carter. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Thursday between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be given to Bridging the Gap Ministry in Stryker, Ohio, in Rudy’s honor.
