Rita Lois Williams
1943 - 2025
WESTERVILLE, OHIO – Rita Lois Williams, age 82, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. She was born on February 21, 1943, in Asco, WV to the late Dewey and Lillie Mae (Sizemore) Bishop. On December 22, 1960, she married James Allen Williams in Welch, WV.
Rita was a loving wife of over 64 years and an attentive mother who was involved in all her children’s activities. She loved cats. That feline comfort was a true blessing to her, especially in her later years as she battled disease. Most of all, her love for our Lord was demonstrative. She was instrumental in showing her family how to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Her love for our Lord and strong faith in Him guided her through life.
Rita, a self-taught bookkeeper, had natural abilities that made her a skilled employee at the former McVay’s Tradition House in Worthington, Ohio, the Columbus College of Art and Design, and the City of Dublin. She and James were charter members, helping to plant the Northeast Baptist Church in Columbus. Rita provided her bookkeeping gifts for the young church as well.
In addition to Rita’s parents, she is predeceased by her great granddaughter, Ivy, and her brother, Thomas Eugene Bishop. She is survived by her loving husband, James; her children, Deborah (Doug) Finley and Stephen (Kris) Williams; her grandchildren, Tyler (Ashli) Williams, Corey (Torry) Williams and Abigail Williams; her great grandchildren, Anah, Evan, Travis and Hadley; her sisters, Wanda Jean and Loretta.
There will be a private graveside service for Rita led by her son, Pastor Stephen Williams.
