In loving memory of

Mahlon M. Gingerich

1942 - 2026

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Mahlon M. Gingerich, age 83, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 6, 2026. Mahlon was born on August 27, 1942, in Chardon, Ohio, to the late Mahlon Gingerich and Mahala Yoder Gingerich.

On August 8, 1969, he married his longtime sweetheart, Sharon McBride, and together they built a loving home and raised their family.

Mahlon made a career within the rubber polymer and plastics industry. He started in the lab and through hard work and dedication, he was promoted to Plant Manager and Costing Manager and eventually became part-owner for Gold Key Processing, retiring in 2008.

In his free time, Mahlon loved sports. He was a long-suffering Cleveland sports fan, although he secretly rooted for the Steelers to support his sons. In his youth and early adult years, he was a natural athlete; an avid softball player, always faithful to his team, even if that required him to delay his honeymoon for a day. He also loved bowling and golf. Remembered for being a strong and caring provider, he greatly loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In turn, they affectionately referred to him as “Papa, Pops, and/or Big Papa”.

Mahlon was a faithful servant of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and an active member in his church. He served as a treasurer, deacon and Awana Director at Huntsburg Baptist Church, Huntsburg, OH, for many years. In his youth, he attended Eastern Mennonite College in the early 60’s and graduated from the Baptist Bible Institute in Cleveland in the 80’s.

He is survived by his siblings, Kathy, Betty and Dennis; his sons, Bob (Amy) Gingerich, Eric (Debbie) Gingerich and Aaron (Judy) Gingerich; grandchildren, Kendall, Kelsie, Kaden, Ethan, Lily, Ashton, Arius, and Elijah; and great-grandchildren, Georgia, Penelope, Roman and Nevada.

In addition to his parents, he preceded his loving wife of 56 years, Sharon McBride Gingerich; siblings, Bill, Sarah, Barb and Ray.

The family will have a private graveside service on June 12, 2026. However, friends are invited to attend Mahlon’s final worship service on earth for a Christ-centered celebration of life at 11 AM on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Huntsburg Baptist Church, 16401 Mayfield Road, Huntsburg, Ohio, 44046 with Pastor David Johnson officiating.
