MCCOMB, OH – Emma Lue Snively (Bunnell), of McComb, OH, age 85, was escorted to Heaven by her guardian angel on September 27, 2023. She was born in Bluffton, OH to the late Harry R. and Doris Irene Bunnell (Dick) on November 6, 1937. She was preemie at birth, weighing barely 5 lbs. She was put in a roaster pan on the oven door and bathed with olive oil. At the age of two, she developed Polio, and her mother tirelessly massaged her muscles to prevent her from becoming an invalid. Growing up through grade school, she couldn’t play with the other children, but she began to grow stronger by the time she was in 7th grade. Also, that year, her family moved from Mt. Blanchard to a farm in McComb. Emma was in band, 4H, and FHA. She had a cow as a 4H project and milked her for many years. She graduated from McComb High School, class of 1955, where God introduced her to her soulmate, Robert Snively. They enjoyed 2 years of courtship before getting married on September 9, 1956, and later spent 67 years together.

God blessed the couple with 8 children, Rick (Jenni) Snively, Roger Snively, Cindy (Mike) Waslewski, Ron (Pam) Snively, Debra Snively, Terri (Scott) Schaffer, Russell (Dawn) Snively, and Randall (Janelle) Snively; 23 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
Emma was a Proverbs 31 mother, housewife, nurse, business partner, farmer, and was always willing to help those in need. With 7 of her children states away attending college, she kept busy with care packages, visitation, graduations, and wedding trips. Her summers were full with gardening and assisting with getting the family’s purebred sheep ready for county fairs, including the Ohio State Fair. One year, 6 of her children showed 88 head of sheep! She helped with 8 marriages, including 2 granddaughters’ marriages, and traveled often to help with newborn grandchildren. Emma was also blessed when a granddaughter chose her wedding anniversary as her own wedding date.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Bernita (Gene) Bishop.

Emma was never one to miss church services, however, her health as of late wouldn’t allow her to go as often as she liked. She trusted Jesus as her Savior at church camp and served the church in many ways. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and neighbors. We now have one more reason to make ourselves ready for Heaven!

Her Homegoing service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 8360 Co. Rd. 140, Findlay, OH with Pastor Walt Sheppard officiating. Family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Burial will take place at McComb Union Cemetery, McComb, OH. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Saturday between 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the church, in honor of Emma.
