PIQUA, OH – Ruth Eleanor Stotler, age 85, of Piqua, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021. She was born on July 12, 1936 in Piqua, OH to the late Robert L. and Helen M. Smith (Covault). Ruth was a 1955 graduate of Piqua Central High School and enjoyed square dancing and roller skating. In fact, she met her future husband, Don L. Stotler, at Barry’s Skateland in Piqua in 1954, and two years later married him on December 23, 1956. She worked most of her life as a clerk for the City of Piqua Utilities Office, retiring in 1998. Later in life, Ruth loved playing cards and Bingo with her family and friends. She will be remembered fondly for her great sense of humor and ability to make you laugh.

Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Don L. Stotler of Piqua, OH; daughters, Kimberly Slife of Sidney, OH, Kristi (Larry) Vorhees of Sidney, OH, Charlotte Weaver of Piqua, OH, Cheryl (Harry) Sweigart of Sidney, OH, and Donna (Derek) Regula of Anna, OH; brother, Larry (Helen) Smith of St. Paris, OH; sister, Esther (Jerry) Fitzpatrick of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Randy Hudson Jr., Arron Hudson, Nicholas Hudson, Ron Martin, Jeff Vorhees, Lexie Weaver Jr., Amanda North, Adam Supinger, Jared Regula, and Luke Regula; 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by brothers, Robert, William, Lester, James, and Jerry Smith, as well as sisters, Margaret Sise and Joann Lear.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Monday, August 23, 2021 with a funeral service following at 12:00 p.m. at Piqua Baptist Church, 1402 High Street, Piqua, OH 45356, with Pastor Mark May officiating. Burial will take place at the Fletcher Cemetery, Fletcher, OH. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Monday between 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the church in memory of Ruth.
