In loving memory of
Pastor Mark Timothy Stevens
1954 - 2026
DAYTON, OHIO - Pastor Mark Timothy Stevens, age 72, of Target Dayton Ministries, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 9, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on February 9, 1954, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Donald and Jean (Sonntag) Stevens.
Mark's life was forever changed at the age of 20 when he encountered the love of God through John 3:16 in a Gideon's Bible in a hotel room. From that moment forward, he devoted his life to sharing the Good News of Jesus with others.
Mark and his wife, Cindi, were married on June 23, 1992. In 2000, they moved into the inner city of Dayton, answering God's call to reach the poor, the homeless, and the forgotten. Together, they built Target Dayton Ministries, which has since touched thousands of lives through the preaching of the Gospel and the love of Jesus.
Pastor Mark was a man of extraordinary faith, unwavering conviction, and boundless enthusiasm for the Gospel. Following the example of Jesus in Mark 1:35, he began each morning in prayer. His passionate preaching, unforgettable illustrations, and deep love for people made the message of Jesus understandable and accessible to everyone, regardless of their circumstances.
He believed with every fiber of his being that Jesus Christ could set anyone free from the power of sin. His life's mission could be summed up in the words he so often proclaimed: “Nothing to do but save souls!”
A Christ-centered Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 4:30 PM at the Dayton Convention Center, 22 E. 5th Street, Dayton, Ohio 45402. Doors will open at 3:00 PM. All are welcome to attend as we celebrate his life and the Savior he faithfully served.
Rather than sending flowers, his family requests that you consider making a donation to Target Dayton Ministries in honor of Pastor Mark, continuing the mission he devoted his life to: reaching the lost, loving the forgotten, and sharing the hope of Jesus.
