VAN WERT, OH – Gladys Jewell Knotts, age 84, of Van Wert, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, at 3:04 AM. She was born on August 7, 1940, to the late Elbert and Ethel (Mullins) Kirk, in Ferrellsburg, WV. On November 30, 1956, she married her lifelong sweetheart, James C. Knotts, and began raising a family. Gladys was a true Southern woman, who loved to cook and bake. Hospitality was her passion and feeding people made her happy. She also enjoyed bowling and was on several bowling leagues in her younger years. She loved the color purple. She loved attending church with her family until she couldn’t. She loved Jesus and her family most of all. She was also a member of Pioneer Christian Ministries for 20 years.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, James Clinton Knotts, as well as her daughter, Lisa Gail Knotts, and her son, Kelly Colby Knotts.

Gladys was a proud mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to her children, Clinton Eugene Knotts and Misty (James) Landwehr; grandchildren, Danielle (Solomon) Okang, Sabrina Kline, Kaden, Gauge, Michael, Connie, Serena, and Katie Landwehr, as well as Jaden (Knotts) Persinger, and great grandchildren, Addelynn and Emmelynn Okang, Xavier Kline, Nessa Kline, Amelia Kline, and Aaron Kline, all of which survive her. Also surviving are her siblings, Chloe Mullins, Fran (Bill) Mowery, Sharon Replogle, Beverly Phillips, Phillip (Bud) Kirk, June (Renee) Kirk, and Jerry (Cindy) Kirk.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Dupont Church of the Brethren, 105 Cedar Street, Dupont, OH 45837. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the church, with Pastor Charles Oliver officiating. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Burial will be at Middle Creek Joint Cemetery, 19367 Road 24, Grover Hill, OH 45849. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Thursday between 2:00-4:00 PM.
