In loving memory of

Alan Neil Jones

1958 - 2026

CONTINENTAL, OHIO – A beloved brother, son, uncle and brother-in-law, Alan Neil Jones, age 67, of Continental, died February 13, 2026, at Toledo ProMedica Hospital.

He was born September 22, 1958, in Defiance, the son of the late Rolland and Alice (Opalinski) Jones. He graduated from Continental High School and worked for several years at Consolidated Biscuit Company, McComb.
Alan was a huge sports fan, especially baseball, and happily aggravated his family by becoming a loyal fan of the New York Yankees. He also followed the Los Angeles Lakers' basketball and Ohio State football. Ohio State football was the only time he acknowledged being from Ohio, preferring to focus on out-of-state teams from big cities.

Alan had a great sense of humor. He had an amazing memory for dates and could recite dates of family birthdays, anniversaries and even people he barely knew. He also had an encyclopedic knowledge of sports figures and events.

Alan was especially close to three of his nephews: Jonathan, Jason and Justin Jones, the sons of Cindy and the late Rick Jones. Rick’s family took Alan on many trips to see the Yankee Stadium, Wrigley Field, and other sports centers.

Surviving Alan are two brothers, Bob (Claudine) Jones of Paulding, Ohio and Steve Jones of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Lori (Ralph) Parker of Dublin, Ohio and Darlene (the late Richard) Prince, Continental, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his brothers, Dale Jones, Ted Jones, Rick Jones and John Jones; two nephews, Christopher Jones and Scott Evans; and a niece, Loa-Jeanine Nickloy.

The family is grateful to the wonderful and caring staff at Brookview Nursing Home, Defiance, where Alan lived for many years. Also, our gratitude to the staff of Defiance and Toledo ProMedica hospitals for their care of our beloved brother. The Bob and Brenda Groff and Darwin and Dotty Henry families hold a special place in our hearts for their years of support and care for Alan.
