In loving memory of

Ginger Werline

1945 - 2026

CANAL FULTON, OHIO - Ginger Lee Stapleton Werline, age 81, went home to be with the Lord on May 19, 2026, after a long battle with dementia. While her family grieves her loss, they rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ, whom she faithfully served for more than five decades.

Ginger was born on January 29, 1945, in Morgan City, Louisiana. In 1972, she gave her life to Christ, and from that moment forward, her life mission was clear: “I want to bring glory to God by telling others about Him. Jesus set me free to tell others.” Ginger married Ray Werline on February 11, 1972, in Morgan City, Louisiana, and together they spent 54 years faithfully serving the Lord. As a pastor’s wife in Southern Baptist churches throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, and Kentucky, Ginger lived out a life of caring for others through teaching Sunday School, hospital visitation, prayer, encouragement, and faithfully supporting the ministries of the church. She also traveled on mission trips to Mexico and Austria. She devoted her life to sharing the love of Jesus with everyone she encountered and led many people to faith in Christ over the years. Her unwavering faith, compassion, and testimony touched countless lives and left a lasting spiritual legacy for her family and community.

Ginger was a gifted and prolific artist whose work beautifully captured Louisiana scenery, especially swamp landscapes and the architecture of New Orleans. The joys of her life were her relationship with God, giggling with her children and grandchildren, singing, dancing, gardening, fishing, creating art, and caring for her many beloved animals. She found happiness in simple moments spent with family. She spent the final months of her life living near her twin daughters in Canal Fulton, Ohio and was blessed to spend her last Christmas surrounded by the love of her family.

Ginger is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Ray A. Werline; daughters, Jill Dickey (TJ), Michele Tilstra (Joe), and Richele Thompson (Trent); grandchildren, Kasey Dickey, Jessica Dickey, Garrett Dickey (Blair), Kyle Tilstra, Connor Tilstra, Caden Tilstra, Dominick Thompson, Delaney Thompson, Raygan Werline, Eliza Werline, Emery Werline, and Luke Werline, and great-grandchildren, Mylie Dickey, Briggs Dickey, Dakota Kirkland, Josey Kirkland, and Landin Long.

She was preceded in death by her son, Ray Werline Jr.; her mother, Virginia Price Kidd, and her father, David Stapleton.
