1940 - 2026
UPPER SANDUSKY, OH – Gerald “Jerry” Truman Bogard, age 86, of Upper Sandusky, OH, died Wednesday, January 15, 2026. He was born on June 22, 1940, in Sycamore, OH, to the late Virgil and Mabel (Sours) Bogard Sr. On April 4, 1985, he married Sylvia (Stover) Funkhouser and the two blended their previous families.
Jerry played basketball and softball in his younger years, He loved watching Ohio State basketball and football. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He worked at Tiffin General Electric for 28 years and later did maintenance for Wyandot Place and Indian Run Apartments for 19 years.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sylvia Bogard; children, Greg (Laura) Bogard and Beth (Robert) McNamara; step-children, Joseph (DeAnn) Funkhouser, Neal Funkhouser, and Rea (Robert) Hesson; sister, Donna Rouch; 9 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Virgil Bogard Jr., Bill Bogard, Dan Bogard, and Mable Jean Mossbrugger.
